PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The Chife Foundation is planning and designing a new city with the community of Anam in Eastern Nigeria. This settlement is envisioned to be exemplary in its approach to environmental, economic and social sustainability. Self-sufficiency, livability, maximized use of local resources and efficient design schemes are important objectives. The ultimate goal is to create a prototype for new (as well as existing) African cities, thereby creating a model for sustainable development on the continent.

POSITIONS

Qualified undergraduate and graduate students are encouraged to apply to join our design and implementation team.

  • Architecture: a creative students of architecture passionate about sustainability and international development.  Responsibilities will include design development of sustainable architecture typologies and urban design solutions.  The internship will focus on climate-responsive housing typologies and includes opportunities for full-scale prototyping, both of units and techniques of construction.  Proficiency with AutoCAD, Adobe Suite and 3D modeling is highly recommended.  Fabrication experience and/or strong knowledge of construction technology is preferred.

PROVISIONS

Selected interns will be provided the following:

  • Work Related Travel Arrangements
  • Basic housing with furnishing
  • Monthly Stipend
